GENERAL MANAGER - BARTIZAN
A Pittsburgh native, John moved to Richmond in 1974 but remains an avid fan of all Pittsburgh teams. His love of restaurants and hospitality began as a busboy in high school and continued in college as he managed The Boathouse at Sunday Park. After graduating from VCU, John embarked on a career in medical sales, but restaurants were always a part of the plan. For several years, John improved his cooking skills and kept up with food trends while helping friends who owned restaurants. After more than 25 years in sales, John decided to change careers to focus on what he loves and became Director of Food & Beverage at Hermitage Country Club. Over the past ten years, John has been Director of Food & Beverage at several country clubs in Richmond, taking on greater responsibilities and helping each club grow. Working with the clubs helped him understand the importance of ensuring that everyone has a great experience. In 2020, John became the General Manager at Bartizan, Dover Hall’s sister property. When John is not at Bartizan, he enjoys playing golf, cooking for his family, and spoiling his two grandchildren.
